There has been continuing chaos at Kabul airport as Afghans carry on with their attempts to escape from the Taliban.

A child was filmed being handed over the wall to a US soldier.

Taliban fighters have also fired in the air, and US soldiers have used tear gas to control the crowds of people.

Scenes of chaos have emerged this week from Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, where thousands of people have been attempting to flee Afghanistan following the recent Taliban takeover and the collapse of the government. U.S. officials say they are racing to evacuate as many people from the country as possible before the end of the month when American troops are scheduled to withdraw after two decades of occupation.

On Thursday, Army Maj. Gen. William Taylor told reporters that U.S. troops had airlifted approximately 7,000 people from Kabul in the last five days. In total, the U.S. has evacuated roughly 12,000 people since late July, he said.
